Experienced Full Stack Developer
We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to help our teams worldwide get more done with less stress!
Who we are
55 Degrees is a Swedish software company based in Malmö, offering agile apps that help people and companies forecast, plan, work, and improve more effectively.
Our applications are used by Samsung, Toyota, Lockheed Martin, NBC Digital, Singapore Airlines, King, and more teams. We are focused on serving our customers, wherever they are, remotely from Sweden, whilst maintaining balance in our lives.
We are now in the exciting position of needing to grow so that we can continue to help organizations reach their goals!
If you love front-end technology and our values resonate with you, then 55 Degrees is a great option for you.
The role
In this role, you'll use React and any other technology you deem to be the best way to build and improve the front-end of the apps in our product lines. Your responsibilities will extend from being involved in deciding how we build our apps to participating in fleshing out what we'll ship in our next release as well as modernizing legacy code bases.
You’ll work in a small pod, where the rest of the team will lean on you and your experience to best achieve its goals.
You’ll help implement automated testing of the product line where needed and help with manual testing of the rest. You will occasionally help with customer support, talking directly to customers and learning how they actually use the products you build.
You'll work in a very small, focused team in a company of 13 employees to ship features and improvements to our products which service users around the world. Occasional travel may be required for key conferences in Europe and/or the United States.
This is an opportunity to join a quickly growing team and make a significant impact from day one. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
What you will do
- Develop scalable and maintainable frontend components using React.js, Typescript, and related libraries.
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs.
- Collaborate with the product team to implement intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces.
- Work with the Engineering leadership to identify and implement backend technologies that will create our next generation applications.
- Stay updated with the latest frontend and backend technologies and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
- Implementing security best practices to protect data and applications.
Examples of your duties include, but are not limited to:
- Write and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning sessions.
- Collaborate across teams about best practices and new technologies.
- Implement full stack applications that will deliver our applications to the end user.
- Optimize application performance for speed and responsiveness across various devices and browsers.
- Identify and fix bugs and performance issues.
About you
You value crafting well-tested and clearly written code and understand its importance in getting the right solution into your customers' hands. You desire more than just "getting the job done"; you want to learn something new every day and leave the codebase better than you found it. Despite this, you don’t let a quest for perfection keep your team from delivering.
When presented with a challenging situation, you are eager to jump in and help solve the puzzle.
You value working in a team and can communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical co-workers and customers. You are passionate about humbly fostering the developers with less experience around you. You are eager to talk to customers and validate the results of your work with data.
Your Day 1 qualities:
- A minimum of 5 years of web development experience in an agile, cross-functional team using TypeScript and/or Javascript and REST APIs
- 3 years of experience in using React to develop and implement highly responsive applications and components
- Experience in working with a scrum/kanban environment using Atlassian Jira.
- 3 years experience in developing rest-based APIs using nodejs and AWS lambda.
- Experience working in AWS DynamoDB and other AWS technologies
- Experience developing complex apps with intuitive user interfaces
- Fluency in written and spoken English (But, you don’t have to be perfect!)
- Worked in an environment where you’ve taken a lead role and mentored other developers
- 3 years working in a team environment where you feel comfortable helping other developers
- Worked with MUI or similar react frontend frameworks
- Worked with JWT, Oauth or similar technologies
- A passion for learning and sharing
We’ll be excited if you…
- Have experience developing applications for Atlassian Jira and/or Azure DevOps Marketplace
- Have a passion for effective and sustainable practices and are knowledgeable about Lean and Agile practices
- Have experience crafting an amazing user experience
- Have a passion for validating customer ideas and running experiments
